This experience has helped show me that the field of internal audit is a very natural fit for me. It allows me to use my natural talents, like thinking and analyzing critically, communicating effectively, and being emotionally intelligent, curious, and resourceful. I have also been able to use skills and abilities that I have worked hard to develop through my previous work experience and business and accounting education from UVU, including computer and other professional business skills. My customer service skills, in particular, have been invaluable. In customer service, I learned how to use critical soft skills and problem-solving techniques that will help me in my audit work. It also helped shape my perspective as an internal auditor. As an internal auditor, I see myself working hard with my team to provide assurance, serve, and add value to our organization. I earned my BA in Accounting from Utah Valley University, with a concentration in Internal Audit. I am also a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and an Internal Audit Practitioner (IAP also known as Certified Internal Auditor part 1). The IAP designation helps to demonstrate my internal audit aptitude as I pursue my full CIA certification. I plan to complete parts 2 and 3 of the CIA in 2023 to become an official Certified Internal Auditor.
